Acts 24:10-20
What kind of confession was the most touching in your life? I didnt get a confession of love from my husband, but I got the best confession of the Holy Spirit. Today, lets think about what the Confession of the Holy Spirit is.
First, its a confession that starts with an apology.
Paul makes a willing excuse for Tertulluss accusation. 'Gladly' is a word that only came out once in the New Testament, and it means that I made a very happy and pleasant excuse. Pauls purpose is always to preach the gospel, so hes too happy to have the opportunity to preach it. The original word for 'excuse' is 'apologia,' which is said to have been derived from English apology. 'apologia' is about protecting yourself with words. In other words, its not about expressing emotions or using violence, its about protecting yourself with logic, and its about protecting yourself with an apologetic attitude, not logically fighting fiercely. To give an example of what it is to be willing to make excuses when accused, 'Its a misunderstanding if you thought so. Im so sorry to make you misunderstand. But thats not what I meant.' Thats how this apologetic attitude is willing to testify to the gospel. So no matter what kind of accusation you face, it is the confession of the Holy Spirit that you confess with an apology as a sinner. Only those who realize the love of their wives and Christ can confess the Holy Spirit like this. Paul never argues in the trial of Governor Felix, never attacks his opponent, only explains the facts. 'Ive only been in Jerusalem for ten days, and Ive observed a week of Jewish disrespect, and there are more than one or two people who have seen it. There was no disturbance in the temple, and there was no time for it,' explains the other person to understand. As it is, he defended himself with 'apologia' by making excuses with an apologetic manner.
Second, its a confession of sin, a confession of confession in the community.
Now Paul goes into fact-checking for accusing him of being the Nazarene sect, and before that, he makes an important confession. Its Pauls admission that he believes in Jesus Christ of Nazareth. So he claims that he is a faithful Jew who serves the God of the ancestors of the Jews along the way and believes in all of the Old Testament written in the Book of the Law and the Oath. Paul had a wish for God, and he was able to confess boldly because he believed in the resurrection of the righteous and the wicked. Paul says that the resurrection of the righteous gains eternal life and enjoys the blessings of heaven, but the resurrection of the wicked means living on a salary for death, bound by sin for the rest of his life. But no one listens to this because they are not interested in believing in resurrection. In verse 14 of the text, 'I confess to you,' 'Confession' is 'homologeo,' which means that 'homo' is one, the same, and 'Logeo' is to speak. So its about everyone raising their voices in one opinion. The confession of the Holy Spirit is not made by us, but by Christ. Confession of the Holy Spirit is like a confession. Our confession becomes the confession of the Holy Spirit and cleanses us from all injustice. So the fact that we share our sins in mokjangs itself cleans us from injustice. Paul promotes Christianity through a series of confessions during persecution. As the gospel has been passed down to this day, persecution and persecution are the secrets of telling Jesus that he is Christ.
Third, it is a confession with a clean conscience.
Tertulluss final accusation on Paul was that he tried to defile the temple. In response, Paul said that he always tries to have a clean conscience before God and people, and the word 'trying' means that athletes and soldiers train hard. It means that you practice and train hard so that you dont have any qualms about your conscience at every moment of every day and that you dont have a good conscience. In other words, they read the Lords words and apply themselves. In verse 18, everyone said that they saw Paul disrespecting the temple, but High Priest Tertullus has no excuse. Because there is no evidence. Pauls excuses are sober, logical, apologetic and gentle, so he has remained as a winner for two thousand years.
