Please Lord Cure Us
2 Kings 5:1~8
5 Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy. 2 Now bands of raiders from Aram had gone out and had taken captive a young girl from Israel, and she served Naamans wife. 3 She said to her mistress, 'If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.' 4 Naaman went to his master and told him what the girl from Israel had said. 5 'By all means, go,' the king of Aram replied. 'I will send a letter to the king of Israel.' So Naaman left, taking with him ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold and ten sets of clothing. 6 The letter that he took to the king of Israel read: 'With this letter I am sending my servant Naaman to you so that you may cure him of his leprosy.' 7 As soon as the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his robes and said, 'Am I God? Can I kill and bring back to life? Why does this fellow send someone to me to be cured of his leprosy? See how he is trying to pick a quarrel with me!' 8 When Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his robes, he sent him this message: 'Why have you torn your robes? Have the man come to me and he will know that there is a prophet in Israel.'
Are you good at asking? If you ask a favor, you may seem incompetent, you hesitate, but you can do well when you are humble and low-minded. Naaman, the great general of the King of Aram in todays text, goes to Israel to ask him to cure his illness. Its too easy for some people, but its too hard for a famous general like Naaman. But you have to say, 'Please Heal leprosy!' to get it fixed. Today, lets meditate on how we say in the text to shout cure me.
*나아만 장군 (Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Aram)
First, we need a great evangelical person.
Aram, the enemy of North Israel, fought several wars with Ben-Had II surrounding the capital, Samaria, and Ahab was killed at this time. Naaman was the general who made the most contributions at this time. But even though Aram and Naaman were not aware of it, this great victory was actually within Gods plan to save Aram. It also suggests that leprosy will only be healed by God. Naaman has earned the highest honor he can get as a general, but his last introduction to him is a leprosy. The weight of this disease would have been much heavier than that of all the brilliant modifiers. But there was a little girl slave in his house who was captured from Israel. She was not named as a small and insignificant maid, but She looked at Naaman suffering and thought of Elissa, the prophet in Samaria. He is the enemy who has kidnapped him, but he tells him how to live with pity. She is a little girl and a servant, but she met the Lord and knew that I was a sinner who was bound to die, she forgave him without going out right or wrong. When I love someone, I can forgive, Jesus spreads there and healing occurs. The belief that teaches the gospel without discrimination even to enemies is great. And because the gospel is great, the girl who preaches the gospel is a really great person.
Second, we need to know that hardships like leprosy are a blessing.
At that time, it was a leprosy that could not be cured even if all the medicine and magic of the great power Aram was mobilized, but it was difficult to find the prophet after hearing that the prophet who would cure the leprosy was in enemy Israel. However, because of the hardships of leprosy, an unfaithful stranger visits the prophet with a low heart to catch straws. King Aram sends a letter and many gifts to heal his favorite general, Naaman, and asks King Jehoram of North Israel. Not because King Aram loved Naaman, but because he was the one who absolutely needed him. You have to remember that humans are 100% sinners, so they cant make love. If Im deceived, its 100% my fault, and even if Im 100% good, I should doubt it. But doubt and discernment are different. No one can see their limits without the suffering of the collapse of the flesh. I know that I am poor only when I suffer, and I realize that there is a limit to what I know, ability, thought, and will. When you suffer like this and become a low heart, you hear the words. A hardship is a blessing. The desire to be comfortable without any problems is actually my desire to be God myself. So dont be sad or angry when unthinkable hardships come, and its time to take the spiritual medicine Old and New Testament! I hope you realize it. And I hope you consider it as a time of blessing to ask the Lords will for my suffering through cutie and take medicine of the Word.
Third, God also responds to the sighs of tearing clothes.
King Aram sends gifts and letters to the king of Israel and asks, You heal the king! However, Jehoram, who has no faith, thinks that King Aram builds up a cause for war through impossible demands, so he rips his clothes and gets angry. But God responds with even a sigh of tearing up the clothes of this distrustful Jehoram. Upon hearing this situation, Elisha sends a man to the king to send Naaman to him, and promises, 'The king will know that the news that there is a prophet in Israel who will cure leprosy is real.' 'It is Gods job and the prophets job to cure Naamans leprosy,' he said. Its not your responsibility, its Gods responsibility.' I must admit that I cannot do it and find Gods man and leave it to God. God responds to the lamentation of Jehoram, who has no faith like this, only because he is in the Israeli community. You heard and responded because you were the people of God. We should not leave the church and the ranch, but stay together.
Its a community confession. A shepherd who works for a large company, S Group, is a mok-ja in the church and has been recognized so far at work, but his promotion has been omitted recently. I played freely for two months because I thought I wouldnt do my job properly, but I heard that there was a feeling of emptiness and anxiety. One day, I asked my son, who was practicing dance, 'Are you dancing to please God now?' and he said, 'I dont make him happy, Im happy to think of God.' I thought, 'What should I do to make God happy,' but he said he wanted to be obedient while rejoicing and enjoying God himself. And he confessed that he was a model student since he was young, obedient to everything, and suddenly encountered a situation where he couldnt, and he started to see my problem. A Hardship is a blessing. God gives us this realization because were still belong to the church.
Everyone, the church is the channel God has established to save one man. Just as God has informed us of the knowledge of salvation only through the Bible, I believe that he calls us to heaven only through the church. When we dwell in the church which is the body of the Lord, the Lord will fix us in proportion whenever we are weak. when we pray every day, 'Please fix me!' I hope God will listen to our unfaithful cries and lamentations and trust us to respond with words of promise.
