<참 부자가 됩시다(야고보서 4:13-5:6)>
-Look here, you people who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.
(보라, 오늘이나 내일 어떤 도시에 가서 일 년을 유하며 장사하여 이윤을 남기리라)
-How do you know what will happen tomorrow? For your life is like the morning fog-it’s here a little while then it’s gone.
(내일 일을 어찌 알겠느뇨? 왜냐하면 너의 생명은 아침 안개와 같으니 여기에 잠시 있다가 그만 사라지고 마느니라)
-What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this and that.”
(너희가 도리어 말해야 하기를 “주님의 뜻이라면 우리가 살기도 하고 이것 저것을 하리라” 할 것이거늘)
-Otherwise you will be boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil.
(그렇지 아니하다면 너희는 너희만의 계획에 대해 떠벌리며 자랑할 것이리라 그리고 그러한 모든 자랑함은 다 사악한 것이니라)
-Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.
(기억할 지니라, 네가 마땅히 해야 할 일을 알면서 행 치 아니하는 것이 죄가 되니라)
-Look here, you rich people, weep and groan with anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you.
(보라, 부유한 자들이여, 네 앞에 벌어 질 끔찍한 고생거리로 인하여 울고 불고 고뇌에 차 통곡하리니)
-Your wealth is rotting away, and your fine clothes are moth-eaten rags.
(너희의 재물은 썩어 없어 지리니 그리고 너희의 멋진 옷 또한 좀먹은 누더기가 되리니)
-Your gold and silver have become worthless. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh in hell. This treasure you have accumulated will stand as evidence against you on the day of judgment.
(너희 금과 은은 쓸모 없어졌느니라 너희가 그토록 믿고 의지했던 재물은 지옥에서 너희 살을 파먹으리라 너희가 쌓아 논 보물은 심판의 날 너를 정죄 할 증거로 남으리라)
-For listen! Hear the cries of the field workers whom you have cheated of their pay. The wages you held back cry out against you. The cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.
(왜냐하면 들을 찌어다! 들판에서 일한 일꾼을 착취하여 빼앗은 품삯이 소리 지르며 외쳐대는 울음소리를 너희가 빼돌린 품삯이 너희를 향해 울어 소리 치누나 추수한 자들이 외치는 울음소리가 전능하신 주의 귀에 들렸나니라)
-You have spent your years on earth in luxury, satisfying your every whim. Now your hearts are nice and fat ready for the slaughter.
(너희가 땅에서 사치하고 온갖 기분을 내어 만족하며 세월을 보냈구나 이제 살육의 때가 오매 너희 마음은 살지게 되어있도다)
-You have condemned and killed good people who had no power to defend themselves against you.
(너희가 선량한 사람들을 정죄하고 죽였느니라 그들은 힘이 없으니 너희에게 대항도 하지 아니하였느니라)
