[Those who call on the name of the LORD]
Acts 2:14-21
What is the meaning of calling someones name?
If someone calls me affectionately, it is an expression of friendliness and affection
and itll include a meaning of trusting and trusting me.
Therefore, when God calls my name, we receive great comfort and grace.
And calling the name of the Lord would also be an expression of trust and love for him.
Then, let us take a look at what kind of life the one who calls out the name of the Lord lives today.
1. Those who call on the name of the LORD stand with the community and speaks up.
Todays text is the introduction of Peters first sermon.
Peter stands with the eleven apostles and shouts boldly in front of a large crowd to listen to me.
Until just 50 days ago, he was frightened and denied Jesus three times, but he is no longer Peter of that time.
Because I was filled with the Holy Spirit, I could stand with eleven apostles and speak up.
When the Holy Spirit comes, I am with the community, not just me alone,
so I can raise my voice with boldness to deliver Jesus that I have come to know and testify about my life.
But there are always people who mock and laugh next to me.
Some Jews, who saw their disciples speak in each countrys dialect, mock them for being drunk.
Then Peter does not respond emotionally to the mockers, but explains softly and calmly so that they can understand.
If you remember the hot-tempered Peter who hit the ear of the horse in front of Jesus, you can see that he has changed a lot.
When I am filled up with the Holy Spirit like this, my inner self changes and my language changes.
You forgive the unforgivable, and you say words of love and reconciliation, not hate and anger.
Let me get over it, which I couldnt possibly get over.
Therefore, when the person next to me mocks me, I can tell whether I am full of words or the Holy Spirit.
2. Those who call on the name of the LORD interpret their lives by Words.
The advent of the Holy Spirit to the disciples in the attic of Mark was an event in which the word was fulfilled.
What the disciples spoke in each countrys dialect was not a phenomenon that happened by accident,
but an event in which the words written in Joel were made.
So everything that happened to me today is an achievement of words.
If I accept what has happened in front of me as an event that Gods Word has responded to,
I will not only be swayed by it but also tell me what I need to do for salvation.
Even if we listen to the sermon and QT, it keeps shaking with ridicule and negative words
because we dont see what happened to me as an incident in which the word responded.
If you accept it as a case which words were made, you will repent and combine your heart regardless of the outcome,
and it will be a grateful event because I met Jesus through it.
Peters explanation of this case by quoting Joel shows that he always read and meditated on the words of the Old Testament.
Like this, if I read and meditate on the Bible, I can interpret it as a word and explain it to someone when it happens.
3. To those who call on the name of the Lord, the Holy Spirit is poured at the end of the world
It is said that God will pour his spirit into all bodies in the end of life.
When is the end of the world?
It is the period from when Jesus came to come again.
So when will that be for me?
The pastor preached that it was time to recognize my limitations.
Each of us has an absolute hardship that we experience.
When you go through that hardship, you see your limitations.
At the end of my life, when my ego dies and I live as Jesus, God pour his spirit into our bodies.
Then, guided by the Word, the children prophesy, the young see the illusion, and the old dream.
In other words, when the Holy Spirit comes, inexperienced and immature children talk about their lives with words,
and young people who pursue their desires and pleasures based on what they see as idols see the vision God gives them
rather than chasing what they see.
Also, old people recall the past and dream about Gods salvation when there are many sad and sad things.
What is it that we are filled with the Holy Spirit?
It is a life filled with words and chasing after words.
It breaks all our prejudices, stereotypes, and barriers of mind, and goes beyond my lack, deficiency, and inferiority.
So, when God pours the Holy Spirit, all the problems of children, young people, and old people in this land will be solved.
I believe that the problems of our family will also be interpreted and solved if God pour out the Holy Spirit.
4. Those who call on the name of the Lord are saved in darkness.
God gives a knight in heaven and a sign on earth.
The fact that the sun changes, darkens, and the moon changes, and becomes blood before the big,
glorious day of the Lord means that you spend a time of dead darkness due to judgment.
When an incident of falling star comes, which I have relied on as an idol, I cant see anything like pitch-dark.
The night that no one can handle comes.
But this time of reckoning is also a time of salvation.
Because that is before the big, glorious day of the LORD.
Just as Jesus took the cross before his resurrection, there are times in my life when the sun changes,
darkens, and the moon changes, and becomes blood before the big and glorious day of the Lord.
At that very moment, whoever calls on the name of the Lord is saved.
The happiness and joy of salvation to those who call on Christs name is the joy of heaven beyond comparison.
So the name of Christ is the name of salvation, the name of life, and the name of hope.
I sincerely hope that this grace will come to all of us who call on the name of the LORD.
